Whilst
home customers were no doubt annoyed, a lot of the impact appears to
have been on businesses who could ill afford to experience long
downtime periods. "Really frustrating for a small business as we are
so reliant on the Internet" said Daniel Morris of one London-based
company.
"Have you tried switching it off and on again?"
In a
statement released to BBC News at the time, BT representatives
confirmed that they were doing everything they could to get
information to their customers as quickly as possible.
It read: "Our engineers are on-site and the majority of customers'
service has already been restored. We are working to restore service
to remaining customers as soon as possible this afternoon.
"Should any customers continue to experience difficulty in accessing
their broadband service, they are advised to turn their hub or modem
off and on again."
Since releasing the statement, sources from BT told The Daily
Telegraph that the power failure had been fixed but customers could
still experience some connection difficulties in the near future.
